2015 Gospel Rescue Mission Thanksgiving Street Banquet About Every year on the day before Thanksgiving, Gospel Rescue Mission hosts a Street Banquet for the poor and homeless in our local Tucson community. The entire event lasts from 8am to 3pm. During the event, our guests (the poor and homeless) are able to meet and speak with various agencies and community resources that may provide some relief from their circumstances. We also have prayer teams available. From 11am to 2pm, our guests enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal, completely free of charge. The food is donated by many organizations, companies, churches and individuals from all over Tucson and the surrounding area. Some of the companies and organizations even help in preparing the food. Any items that are needed, but not received as a donations are purchased with funds donated specifically for the holiday banquets. Hundreds of volunteers come together to set up for the event, serve our guests, and clean up. – This is where you come in!  As you sign up to volunteer to serve at the 2015 Gospel Rescue Mission Thanksgiving Street Banquet event, you'll see that there are several shifts to choose from:  Set Up 1st Meal Shift 2nd Meal Shift Clean Up & there is a separate sign up for photographers for each shift Please only sign up for one shift so that everyone who wants a chance to volunteer may have the opportunity to do so. Thank you in advance for volunteering. Your time and efforts will be a huge blessing to someone, maybe even you!  Notes The event is the day BEFORE Thanksgiving: Wednesday, Nov. 25th from 8am to 3pm  The homeless and needy enjoy the banquet from 11am to 2pm, the rest of the time is for set up, clean up and for our guests to be able to get help from community resources and connect with various agencies. Please enter the actual names of the people who will be volunteering.  The name entered in this sign-up is the names that will be on the list when you check-in at the event and the name that will be printed on your name badge for you to wear while you are volunteering. If you want to sign up with a group, everyone must still be signed up individually with their own names. There is a brief orientation meeting in the Men's Center Chapel after you check-in and before your volunteer shift starts. Every volunteer must attend this meeting even if they have served at a prior street banquet. Photographers, you will attend this orientation first and then you will meet with Stephanie Redmond, Digital Marketing Coordinator.   FAQ's Will there be training before my shift? What will I be doing? There will be a short orientation meeting in the Men's Center Chapel at the beginning of each volunteer shift. This is where you will be given any important updates and choose a task to volunteer for. During the meeting, they will explain what the tasks are and where to go next to do that task. Is there an age limit to be able to volunteer at this event? Yes. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age or older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and will not be supervised by GRM staff or volunteers.  Where do I park? Parking will be along the streets in the residential neighborhood. Please do not park in or block the driveways. Where do I check-in to volunteer at the event? On the East side of the front of the Men's Center building on the Northwest corner of 28th St. and 9th Ave at the registration/check-in table. Bring your ticket (printed or on your mobile device), check-in at the table, receive your name badge, and then go into the GRM Men's Center Chapel for your Volunteer's Orientation Meeting. After the meeting you will begin your volunteer shift.  Do I have to bring my ID? No ID is required to check-in to volunteer for this event. To sign-in, simply bring your event ticket either printed or on your mobile device. What should I wear? Dress comfortably and according to the weather. Most volunteer work will involve standing and/or walking, so bring as few personal items as possible and wear comfortable shoes.  Do I have to bring my ticket? It's easier and quicker if you do. You can bring a printed ticket or you can bring your ticket on your mobile device via your Eventbrite app. (You do not have to have an Eventbrite account to sign-up to volunteer at this event.)  Can I change my information after I sign-up? Yes. After you have signed up, you will receive a confirmation email; at the bottom of the email there will be a section that says "Your Account," underneath that, click on "Log In" to be able to edit your information. Please make sure that you enter a valid email address to receive event updates and information regarding the day of the event. This is how we will notify you of any changes. The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the name of the person who will actually be volunteering. Please sign up with the actual name of the person who will be volunteering. Duplicate and obviously fake sign-ups will be canceled in order to prevent no shows and pranks. In order to give as many people as possible a chance to volunteer, please only stay for the shift you sign up for. If I don't sign up can I still volunteer? There won't be any available volunteering spaces on the day of the event. The sign-up fills up fast and then goes to a waiting list. If you want to serve at this event, please sign-up. Can I bring people who haven't signed up to volunteer with me? Please don't do that, please sign up ahead of time. We won't have a volunteering spot for them without taking it away from someone who did sign up.
